Emily began dancing at the age of 3, attending several different studios across New Brunswick and Alberta before moving to her now permanent residence of Ottawa, where she began in competitive dance. She joined Leeming DanceWorks’ competitive team in 2010, continuing training in ballet, jazz, tap and hip hop, as well as contemporary, improvisation and training in A.D.A.P.T. and R.A.D. syllabi. Emily prides herself in her involvement in the Ottawa Dance Community, organizing and participating in dance events across the city, as well as contributing to Dancers Give Back Ottawa as an ambassador and performer among other roles. She performed her first self-choreographed solo at the age of 15, and has gone on to choreograph and co-choreograph a number of works with great success, winning overall awards and special awards at various dance competitions. Emily is now training in the post-secondary contemporary dance program at The School of Dance, and thrilled to be a part of the Leeming DanceWorks faculty. She is eager to share her artistry and ability to tell a story through movement, providing a space for exploration, growth and creative thinking for younger dancers.
