Carolyn has taught dance for over 10 years in recreational and competitive dance studios across Ottawa, Gatineau and in her hometown, Guelph. She has choreographed top award-winning solos, duets/trios and groups, and her dancers have performed at regional and national competitions throughout Canada and the United States.
While she specializes in teaching tap dancing, she is also highly qualified to teach creative movement and contemporary jazz. Her tap dance training includes working with Travis and Tanya Knights, Allison Toffan (Toffan Rhythm Projects / The Toronto Rhythm Initiative), Tasha Lawson (Tri Tone Rhythm Ensemble), and Heather Cornell (Manhattan Tap). She is currently a member of the Ottawa Rhythm Initiative Ensemble under the artistic direction of Carole Anne Piccinin, and teaches the Beginner and Intermediate/Advanced tap classes offered by the ORI. Her approach to tap dance fosters an appreciation for and connection with musicality and rhythm, and she encourages each of her students to find their individual tap voice.
Carolyn is passionate about sharing her love for dance, and is extremely committed to the growth and development of her students.
