Former student and teacher Kevin Howe performed on T.V. for the Much Music Video Awards as backup dancer to Lady Gaga!! She liked him so much, he has been asked to tour with her and his next gig is the Music Video Awards Show in New York City in September. WoWoWoW!! Nick Dromard is dancing and singing in the lead role of Fiyero in "Wicked" in San Fransisco and Meaghan Pugh is now in her 5th year at the National Ballet School.
We would like to extend a warm welcome to 2 new faculty members. Debby Armstrong comes to us from South Africa. She is a registered teacher with the R.A.D., a former ballerina and studio owner. Also coming on board is Melanie McNamara. Melanie is a registered teacher of the B.A.T.D., also a former studio owner and an expert in the Paula Morgan Technique. We also welcome back Rachel Cogan to the studio. Rachel started dancing at LDW in 1991 and after a brief departure, is returning to teach Hiphop with the hottest new moves from Toronto!
Tricia Bouvier Harps is taking a leave of absence to be with her 3 young children. We are sure we will see her popping in and out as 2 of them are still coming to dance classes!
Former Tap teacher, Kim McMahon was married on August 15th to Dennis Im. Sharon and Tricia attended the wedding and the bride was just radiant! Dennis was no slouch either as he strutted his choreographed moves during their first dance. Congratulations to Kim and Dennis!
Look out for former Hiphop teacher Jamie Hodgin dancing in an upcoming Disney movie!

STUDENT NEWS:
Leeming Danceworks students were asked to perform at the grand opening of the Shenkman Centre for the Performing Arts in June. 10 dancers performed Hiphop, Ballet, Contemporary and Tap solos in the facility's new dance studio. We were very happy to be a part of this exciting occasion in our community.
Young dancers also performed to enthusiastic crowds at the St. Theresa Catholic School and Orleans Woods Elementary School in June. It was a great opportunity for the competitive dancers to perform one more time before they went to Florida and the audience loved them!
Nine students took a workshop in August with Blake McGrath from "So You Think You Can Dance Canada" fame. They all had a terrific time, even if the senior class looked like one gigantic sauna! Many photos and memories were made that evening!
It was with great sadness that we said goodbye to a former student, Camille Boulay this year. Camille passed away from cancer on February 23 at the tender age of 16. Cami was a wonderful, sweet, dedicated, hardworking student with a passion for Hiphop. Every instructor she had said she was a joy to teach, a great role model and friend. She will be deeply missed. In her memory, we have renamed the Most Improved Student Award to the Camille Boulay Memorial Award of Excellence. This year we congratulate Kyle Lemay on winning this award. Kyle will receive a scholarship and the studio will donated $300 to the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Support Program each year in Camille's name.
